Ulka – Premraj K K’s Novel in English & Kannada

ബാല നോവൽ “ഉൽക്ക” കന്നടയിലും ഇംഗ്ലീഷിലും.

പ്രശസ്ത എഴുത്തുകാരൻ പ്രേംരാജ് കെ കെ യുടെ മനോഹര ബാല നോവൽ “ഉൽക്ക” കന്നടയിലും ഇംഗ്ലീഷിലും പ്രസിദ്ധീകരണത്തിന് ഒരുങ്ങുകയാണ്. അഡോർ പബ്ലിക്കേഷൻ ഇതിന്റെ മലയാളം പതിപ്പ് ഈകഴിഞ്ഞ ഫെബ്രുവരിയിൽ (Feb 2026) പ്രസിദ്ധീകരിച്ചിരുന്നു. മേരി ജോസഫ് (വിജയ് കർണ്ണാടക പത്രത്തിൽ ജോലി ) പരിഭാഷ ചെയ്ത ഈ നോവലിന്റെ കന്നഡയിലുള്ള പേര് “ഉൽക്കെ ” എന്നാണ്. അണിയറയിൽ ഈ കൃതി തയ്യാറാവുകയാണ്. അതേസമയം ഈ നോവലിന്റെ ഇംഗ്ലീഷ് വിവർത്തനം എഴുത്തുകാരൻ ചെയ്തപ്പോൾ ആംഗലേയ എഴുത്തുകാരി ഷൈനി അജിത് എഡിറ്റിങ് നിർവഹിച്ചിരുക്കുന്നു. ഇംഗ്ലീഷിലും “ഉൽക്ക” എന്നുതന്നെയാണ് പേര് ഇട്ടിരിക്കുന്നത്. സംസ്കൃത പദമായ “ഉൽക്ക” ഇംഗ്ലീഷ് ഭാഷയ്ക്ക് പരിചയപ്പെടുത്തുകയാണ് എഴുത്തുകാരൻ പുസ്തകത്തിലൂടെ ചെയ്യന്നത് എന്ന് കരുതേണ്ടിയിരിക്കുന്നു. അടുത്തുതന്നെ ഇംഗ്ലീഷ് , കന്നഡ പതിപ്പുകൾ പ്രസിദ്ധീകരിക്കുമെന്നാണ് ചുമതലപ്പെട്ടവർ അറിയിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നത്.

ഏതാനും കുട്ടികൾ തമ്മിലുള്ള സൗഹൃദവും അവർ നടത്തുന്ന ശാസ്ത്രീയപരമായ അന്വേഷണവും ഒക്കെയാണ് ഈ നോവലിന്റെ വിഷയം. കുട്ടികളെയും മുതിർന്നവരെയും ഒരേപോലെ ആകർഷിച്ച ഈ കൃതി മറ്റു ഭാഷകളിലേക്കും വിവർത്തനം ചെയ്യപ്പെടേണ്ടത് അതാവശ്യമാണെന്ന് പലരും അഭിപ്രായപ്പെടുകയുണ്ടായി. കുട്ടികളിലെ ജിജ്ഞാസയെ പരിപോഷിപ്പിക്കുവാൻ ഇത്തരം കൃതികൾക്ക് കഴിയും എന്ന് പറയുന്നതിൽ തെറ്റില്ല.

വളരെ ഹൃദ്യമായ ഭാഷയിൽ മലയാളത്തിൽ എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്ന ഈ കൃതി ഭംഗിയൊട്ടും നഷ്ടപ്പെടാതെയാണ് മേരി ജോസഫ് കന്നഡ ഭാഷയിലേക്ക് പരിഭാഷപ്പെടുത്തിയിരിക്കുന്നത്. അക്ഷരങ്ങളോടുള്ള അടങ്ങാത്ത സ്നേഹമാണ് മേരി ജോസഫിനെ ഇതിന് പ്രേരിപ്പിച്ചത്. അതുപോലെ ഇംഗ്ലീഷിലേക്ക് പരിഭാഷപ്പെടുത്തുമ്പോൾ , നോവലിന്റെ തനതായ സൗന്ദര്യം നിലർത്തുവാൻ ഷൈനി അജിത് വളരെയധികം സഹായിച്ചുവെന്ന് നോവലിസ്റ്റ് പറയുകയുണ്ടായി.

ഈ കൃതി ഏറെ വായിക്കപ്പെടട്ടെ എന്നാശംസിക്കുന്നു.

Children’s novel “Ulka” in Kannada and English.

Renowned writer Premraj KK’s beautiful children’s novel “Ulka” is all set to be published in Kannada and English. The Malayalam version was published by Adore Publications in February 2026. It is translated by Mary Joseph (Vijay Karnataka) and  the novel is titled “Ulke.” While the writer has done the English translation of the novel, writer Shiny Ajith has done the editing of its English Version. In English also its name is “Ulkka”.  It is believed that the author is  introducing the Sanskrit word ‘Ulka’ to the English language through the book. The Kannada and English versions will be released soon – concerned people informed our reporter.

The theme of the novel is the friendship between a few children and the scientific investigation they conduct. Many have suggested that the work should be translated into other languages, appealing to children and adults alike. It is not wrong to say that such works can nourish the curiosity of children.

The book has been translated into Kannada by Mary Joseph. She was inspired by her love of literature and its Malayalam version.

Similarly, while translating it into English, the novelist said that Shiny Ajith helped a lot in maintaining the unique beauty of the novel.
